This past weekend gave us a bit of a wake up call about severe weather and why we shouldn’t ignore “severe weather watches and warnings.”
When The National Weather Service issues a watch or warning always take it seriously. There were a total of 7 confirmed tornadoes in the Chicago area Saturday evening. Fortunately, no one lost their lives in these storms, but it’s always a good idea to refresh our memories and our plans when severe weather threatens.
I am including some sites to go to to get the most up to date information on safety when it comes to lightning and tornadoes. Please click on these sites to get valuable information. Knowing what to do and knowing what not to do in the event of a severe storm may save your life. Hopefully, our weather will calm down now that we are getting closer to summer. The most active times for tornadoes are the months of April, May and June. But they may occur anytime of the year. If you recall the South was hit with several tornadoes in early February of this year and so far, for the year, we are well ahead of our normal amount of twisters. There is no doubt we will be setting the dubious record of the most tornadoes in history this year. Be Prepared and Be Safe!
