Van’s web site announces the event:

Please come join us on June 14th to celebrate the life of Ryanne Mace, one of our neighbors, whose life was cut short on February 14th, 2008 during the shooting at Northern Illinois University. All of the proceeds for our sales that day (minus sales tax and employee salaries) will be donated to a scholarship fund established in her name.

There is also a link to another web site that gives more information and background about Ryanne and Van’s Frozen Custard’s plans for the day.

Stop by and support this worthy cause.

I was able to stop by Van’s Frozen Custard yesterday around noon. I met the owner of the store and I’m pleased to report that they were pretty busy while I was there. I had the privilege to meet Ryanne Mace’s Mom and Dad. Ryanne was a resident of Carpentersville who was a victim of a senseless killing by a young gunman at Northern Illinois University on February 14th of this year. Ryanne was a member of our “peer jury” in which she took great pride, in being able to help our community. She was a talented young woman who will be missed.
