Odds & Ends

Posted by Bill Sarto on June 13, 2008

Good News ~ The much anticipated entryway signs for the Village have been installed at the north and south ends of Route 25 and at the south end of Route 31. We have two more yet to be placed, one at the south end of Randall Road and the other at Jack Hill Park along the west side of the Fox River. Take a look at the new signs and let me know what you think. Now keep in mind, they are not yet completed. There is landscaping to go in around each of them.

Have you noticed the improvements that are already being made at the southeast corner of Lincoln and Main. Watch for much more to be happening at his location. Guess who has purchased the property? I’ll let you guess.

Remember that the Parks Committee have invited you to attend their celebration of Flag Day tomorrow, Saturday June 14th, at Veterans’ Garden located in Carpenter Park. The ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m. come out and show your respect for our flag. This is a family event, so please bring the children. It’s never too early to learn the appreciation for our flag.

Also, remember the fundrasier that will be held in honor of Ryanne Mace, tomorrow, Saturday, June 14th, at Van’s Frozen Custard, 300 West Main St. (Huntley Road). See this site (previous post) for more details. Buy some frozen custard between the hours of 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and make a contribution to the Ryanne Mace Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Severe Weather Pounds Area

Posted by Bill Sarto on June 13, 2008

As the severe weather continues to pond the midwest the rivers are out of their banks and tornadoes continue to do damage and cause deaths.

We could all use a break in the weather. Flooding has effected several midwestern states including Illinois. Iowa has been especially hard hit in the past few days. One weather forecaster was saying that in Iowa they have seen a “500 year” flood. There is nothing to compare the flooding to on record. This of course puts a huge hardship on many people. Many towns are under water. As bad as we’ve seen it here, other places have seen worse.

Let’s hope for a good weekend and a Happy Father’s Day to all of you father’s.
