Help for Homeowners

Posted by Bill Sarto on June 19, 2008

At a recent Village board meeting we had Kane County come out to make a presentation on what help is available to homeowners who are faced with foreclosure and other issues.

Today, at noon, I will be attending a news conference that I’ve been invited to take part in by Kane County Board Chairman, Karen McConnaughay.

News reports have well-documented the national forclosure crisis and the devastation it is causing homeowners and the communities from coast-to-coast. Here in Kane County, we’re feeling the impact as well-in fact our county saw the highest rate of increase in foreclosures in the Chicagoland metro area rising by more than 42% between 2006 and 2007.

This trend threatens not only individual taxpayers who are losing their homes, but the economic vitality of our entire region. Given the stakes, the County Board unanimously approved the launch of a comprehensive public information campaign to raise awareness of existing services available to help homeowners.

Homeowner Clinics will be held soon in our area. This is a crsis that must not be ignored. I urge anyone who is facing hardship with their mortgage to seek help.
