This is the perfect example of the type of leadership you can expect from Ritter, there won't be any leadership. This will create a battle for complete control that will spill over into Village Board Meetings eventually, in fact it has already started. The Village has been falling apart for many years, it was Bill Sarto who started to turn things around, now they will go back to the same backward and corrupt way of doing things that has made Carpentersville infamous through out the State of Illinois and the Nation.

As I said before, Ed Ritter couldn't lead a group of ants to a piece of candy.

If Carpentersville is unsuccessful in their defense of the $30 million lawsuit, which is a great concern, the whole Board ( even Brad McFeggan) and some Department heads, may have exposed themselves to personal Class action Litigation from the Taxpayers. This could bankrupt the Village and cause a great financial hardship to each and every property owner in the Village and at the worst possible time.

I agree totally Centurion. I think Ritter's position on letting the board do the work reflects his and the boards desire to return to the old way of doing things, sweep it under the table and let the village fall apart.

Well, this Board is not new, for the most part. It is pretty much the same group of people with only really a couple exceptions. I think we know the stance this group takes on all the issues that have been placed before it in the past few years. That's the problem as I see it, Ken.

And Ritter also saw the attacks on Sarto for opposing the majority of the Board on some of these issues. By not voting, he keeps out of the public view and avoids attacks. Seems more like a facilitater than a leader. Does that help the Village? No, but it keeps him from being attacked...and that is his way of "helping" the Village; somewhat of a cowardly approach to government.

I agree 100 percent. As an elected member of the board, he should vote on each item on the agenda. Also he needs to show leadership by not letting the other board members run over him. Also, I have not heard any news of where the "new" board stands on any of the issues facing our community today. ?????

Thank you Ken. It's very unusual for any two people to agree on everything. I've seldom found that type of connection with anyone in my life.

All any public official can do is to do their best. I can say without hesitation that is what I've done.

I'm proud of my record. I stand by it.

Bill, Again thank you for a job well done. Although I did not agree with all of your ideas for Carpentersville, I was impressed that you were unafraid to press on no matter the resistance you experienced from the rest of the board. Thanks again, KEN

The way I see it is that the Village either needs the help or it doesn't. The economy is taking a toll on revenue opportunities and most communities, even though they need an adequate work force, have to lay some workers off in times when they should be adding to staff due to citizen needs. With help to get the number of police we need, it is absolutely essential that we utilize this funding for now and deal with the future when it comes.

As the economy improves, due to the stimulus money that puts more people to work, we will see revenues improve to take care of needs for the future. And, as crime/gang violence is brought under control, as you pointed out Mr. Sarto, it will open up the opportunities to grow the community and give people the confidence to shop in the Village increasing revenue from sales taxes. Those that fight the use of the stimulus money or any funding that might be short term are just short sighted and out of touch with reality. They might be listening to FOX News and are really just confused about what is going on in this country and in our community in particular.

We have the economic crisis we have today because the average people have seen a decrease in their earnings and are out of money and out of work. how do we get things turned around if we just sit back and wait for the wealthy to dribble some of their excess funds down to us. Sorry, that has never worked and has been responsible for 6 recessions since 1982.... And, we seem too dumb to understand that it is just stupidity or insanity to think if we keep doing it, it will finally work....It only works for those that are wealthy and get wealthier from the upside-down programs we keep getting under the GOP.

Ken Elsey-

I will continue to do just what I have been doing, only in the more important role of Citizen.

My life has been devoted to public service. That will not change when I leave office. My 31+ years in state government taught me a lot about how government works best.

My first involvement with our Village government was as a Citizen. I recognized a threat to our neighborhood and rallied my neighbors to take up the fight to stop a very bad plan to build 176 townhouses only a matter of several yards from the Village's Wastewater Treatment Facility. We STOPPED those townhouses.

A Citizen holds the most important postion in government. Our government is set up to protect the rights of us citizens. It's a citizen run government. Those who hold public office may sometimes get the wrong idea that they hold the power, but the real power is with the people.

So, I will contiune the fight for what is best for Carpentersville. I will hold our elected officials accountable for their actions or lack of actions. They will know I am here and I will be watching.

As an elected official sometimes I was hampered from doing and saying things that needed to be said and done. I will soon be FREE to act on those things I couldn't say or do as the President of Carpentersville.

Yes, my blog will continue.

Bill, thank you for serving, and I hope continuing to serve in unofficial capacities, our village. I agree with citizen in hoping the newly elected board and president will look beyond selfish desires and look at the needs of our village. To continue on in rebuilding our infrastructures, bringing commerce, and reducing crime. My greatest fear continues to wonder if corruption is going to return to our village hall and reenter the board meetings again.

So what are you going to do now Bill? Are you going to remain active in the village or township? Will you keep a blog for all the concerned citizens of our village? I hope so. Happy Easter, KEN
